Hi there and welcome!! My name is Malorie Bryant, I’m a Color Consultant and Co-Owner of Swiss Dot Boutique. My mom, Danielle Bryant and I opened Swiss Dot in 2005, and have been loving our fashion journey together ever since. Our boutique is located in Orange County, California, more specifically in Seal Beach on Main Street just a few steps from the ocean.
Danielle’s a proud graduate of FIT, the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. With her marketing degree she hit the ground running, working in various retail stores perfecting her craft as a fashion merchandiser, marketer, and store manager. A few years after giving birth to me, she relocated to her childhood stomping grounds in Southern California.
I grew up loving fashion, but my first and foremost love has always been theatre. I attended Orange County High School of the Arts, in Santa Ana, California with a major in Musical Theatre. During my high school years, I was a hip “scene kid,” and I loved to buy only vintage dresses for all my school dances. My mom and I would search the racks of the local vintage and consignment stores to find the perfect dress. What’s funny is while we shopped, we always joked about owning our own clothing store. Little did we know, it was going happen sooner than we could ever imagine.
During my senior year of high school, the owner of a consignment store in Seal Beach offered to sell her shop to my mom, sorta out of the blue. At that time the consignment store wasn’t doing well, and my mom offered to help with the indoor and window displays to generate business. The owner loved my mom’s passion for the clothes and selling, so she asked her to buy the shop. Low and behold, my mom was looking for a BIG reason to leave her high paying, non-artistic job, and this was it. Our lives have been changed ever since, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
Opening a family business that was and is our sole income was pretty risky, and we’ve racked up plenty of crazy, scary, hilarious, and loving memories along the way. Helping run this business has been the best education I could have ever hoped for, especially at the age of 23. The amounts of information I’ve gathered and made my own is truly endless.
As I mentioned earlier, at the time when we bought the shop I was a senior in high school. So when I received my New York University acceptance, I had to say goodbye to my mom and Swiss Dot for a good chunk of the year. So “NYU Vacation” came to mean: working at Swiss Dot.
Together my mom and I revamped the consignment store and realized used clothing wasn’t the market for us. New, hip, trendy clothes was what we wanted to sell!! And this is when things got really interesting and sales began to take off.
We began shopping LA’s cash & carry vendors, and in due time learned the hottest, best quality, and most affordable vendors to shop at. We became dedicated and obsessed with finding the best quality at the best price.
To close, what separates us from the typical trendy boutique is our sincere customer service, and our unique color system making it easy to create fabulous head-to-toe outfits that enhance a woman's inner and outer beauty. Five years in the making my mom and I have perfected our own unique color system, more on that to come…
